While I hate leaving my babies to go to work, I am lucky that my job allows me breaks and summers off to be with them. I feel like I have the best of both worlds, I can work, while also having breaks and summers to make memories with kiddos, along with a schedule that allows me to be home by 4 or earlier each day. However, with Bobby's lovely sleeping schedule, it has seemed that more days that not, I have contemplated staying home because I feel like I am a walking zombie. I know it will get better and I do love my job, plus, I know that in a few years when Izzy enters Kindergarten and eventually Bobby too, I'll be able to be with her (them) all day long from K-6th grade, maybe not all day, but more than I would normally see her (them).
Last week, I was fortunate enough to have my first break since school started, a much earned break if you ask me. The transition back to work after having a baby and no maternity leave has been much more difficult than it was when Izzy was born. Maybe it was because we were fortunate enough to have my parents watching her or the fact that she started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. Mr. Bobby has had a rough go at daycare, he is taking longer to transition than we had expected and due to daycare's goal of getting him on their schedule, he is kind of a mess when I pick him up. He has been amazing the last four days and has been taking great naps; however, his night time wakings are still too frequent for our liking. We go to the doctor on Thursday for his 4 month check up and have already bought oatmeal in hopes that we will start him on foods soon to see if that helps. We shall see. He is lucky he is so cute and smiley because my goodness! I never thought I could survive on such broken amounts of sleep (or lack thereof) and still work, not only work, but work with 5 year olds all day. I come home and struggle to stay awake until the kids' bedtimes.
Anyway, back to MEA Break. It was glorious! I felt like a revived mom! I was so happy, playing with the kids, smiling, not even minding that I didn't get a lot of sleep. We built "castles", trains, colored, read books, snuggled, had playdates, etc. It was amazing. I am already having anxiety about going back to work tomorrow, especially since I have A LOT of assessing to do with my students and grades are due on Friday! The countdown is on for Thanksgiving break, 25 school days! However, I have conferences and other long days ahead before that! Here are some pictures from our fun break....
I think Izzy is Type A like her parents! Check out the way she organized her stickers. She does this with her puzzles too and gets really frustrated when I match up the wrong colors on her fish color puzzle Poor girl!
Friday night we met up with the Craigmiles and Martinsons for a fun and crazy dinner at the Park Tavern. We had a Tavern Takeover with a table for 11, 5 of which were kids! I can't wait for these kids to grow up together and have so many fun memories! Bobby is praying for another boy though, otherwise, he'll be sporting pink to fit in.

We had a playdate on Friday with Emily and Lucy, Anna and Evan, Jackie, Sally, and Libby! So much fun! Libby is a natural...if only Bobby wouldn't move and kick so much. :)

Izzy LOVES to hold babies. Emily was sweet enough to let Izzy hold her. Izzy doesn't always understand why she can't hold and touch babies the way she does her brother; however, Emily was so nice about it! Isn't Lucy the cutest!?

Bobby is SO social, almost to a fault! He can't eat anymore when there is noise around him and always wants to look around to see what is going on. He LOVES to look at books during tummy time, as long as his sister isn't moving around to distract him.
I could get used to mornings with these two! I wish I could freeze time (but make Bobby sleep more before doing so) and keep these two this age for awhile longer!
